NEW! Dark Past Lace
Single-ply 42/13/10/35 Brushed Baby Alpaca/Extrafine Merino/Yak/Silk ($42/$44CAD Tonal/Variegated)
This yarn is to die forrrr. It is like your typical suri lace weight, but with the delicious additions of yak and 18.5 micron merino for added depth of colour and even more softness. The soft warm grey yak colour also lends a slightly warm undertone to the yarn, and the speckles on this are super soft and look really natural. The yarn is a joy to knit and creates a soft yak halo--a halo of your dark past surrounding you perhaps?? The resulting fabric is super light and warm. This yarn would work well on a larger needle size than 3mm to create a more open Fabric. You can also use it held double (or triple!) with itself or other bases/weights for a more subtle halo-effect.

Gauge: 25sts/46 rows on 3mm over 10 cm/4 inches

Fated Mates Lace (formerly Moraine Lake Lace)
2-ply 72/28 Brushed Superkid Mohair/Mulberry Silk ($42/$44CAD Tonal/Variegated)
The softer and rarer Superkid mohair produces the softest, most luxurious mohair/silk yarn ever. Two strands of mulberry silk hold the mohair fibres in place to add radiance and strength. Gentle enough for next to skin wear.
This is a super light and airy yarn and can be worked at many different gauges. It produces gossamer-like items when large needles or hooks are used and soft, fluffy items at tighter gauges. It can also be carried with another yarn to add a delicate haze and to produce a surprisingly warm fabric.
Compared to Suri, it has a lighter, larger halo.

Single-ply 65/20/15 SW Merino/Silk/Yak ($47/$49CAD Tonal/Variegated)
A new luxurious base--this soft, shiny, drapey yarn will be your new favourite for any project. The single ply of this lace weight makes it great for holding double with another yarn for added durability or on its own for some extra soft next-to-skin comfort. Extra nice for when you need a lace weight yarn, but don’t want the floofy floofy. Its natural warm gray colour adds an extra layer of depth and moodiness to each colourway.

Single-ply 80/20 SW Brushed Extrafine Merino/Nylon ($42/44 Tonal/Variegated)
SUPER soft merino wrapped around a nylon core, then brushed. This yarn is wonderfully versatile and can be used in a wide range of projects. It knits up beautifully on its own on a wide range of needle sizes, and can be used as a light DK through to chunky. Combine it with a fingering/sock weight or DK weight yarn to add warmth and texture without weight to jumpers, scarves and cowls.

Fingering Weight
Arranged Marriage Fingering (formerly Dead Man's Flats Sock)
Single-ply 56/44 SW Extrafine Merino/Superkid Mohair ($46/$48CAD Tonal/Variegated)
This singles yarn is next to skin soft, slightly fuzzy and has a beautiful pearly lustre due to the fineness of the mohair used. The mohair is not brushed but the singles construction allows the mohair fibres to bloom and form a delicate halo around the strand. It knits up into warm and lightweight items. Although technically a fingering weight yarn, you can also treat it like a thicker sport weight yarn, and knit on larger needles. This allows the mohair fibres more room to bloom and reach their full fuzzy potential. It is delightful worked up into lightweight shawls, cardigans, hats and cowls.

This yarn uses extrafine merino (19.5 microns), which is some of the finest commercially available. This results in a luxuriously soft and bouncy yarn for next to skin comfort. A little nylon is added for extra durability. This yarn is so versatile and can be used for any next to skin project (scarves, jumpers etc), as well as items where a little more durability is required such as socks and gloves.

Very similar to our regular Banff sock base, this yarn just has a different ply to it. This two-ply high twist yields a plump, bouncy yarn with a bumpy texture that is great for colourwork and texture sure as lacework. The main factor determining the quality of merino wool is its softness, which depends upon the fineness of the fibres. This yarn uses extrafine merino (19.5 microns), which is some of the finest commercially available. This results in a luxuriously soft and bouncy yarn for next to skin comfort. 4-ply 75/20/5 SW Extrafine Merino/Nylon/Silver Lurex ($39/$41CAD Tonal/Variegated, $51CAD Sock Set, $50 Mini Bundle)
Three plies of merino/nylon are spun with a ply of lurex for a soft, durable yarn with sparkle. There is enough lurex to add sparkle, without the scratchiness often associated with lurex yarns, and extrafine merino for a soft handle. The added nylon adds durability too, making this yarn perfect for next to skin projects, socks, and gloves with a little added sparkle.

A soft single-ply (21.5 micron) merino and linen blend yarn with texture and a gentle tweedy haze. The natural linen is prepared to vary in thickness to give the yarn a textured finish with subtle drape. We dye these with acid dyes which the linen does not absorb and remains white, producing a halo of linen fibres. It is ideal for summer and trans-seasonal items such as cowls, shawls and lightweight tops.

Warm weather knitting just got a whole lot cooler with this base! A lovely blend of Pima cotton and fine merino (21.5 micron) wool, the soft, cool hand and beautiful drape make it the perfect option for tops, sweaters, wraps and shawls. When dyed with a traditional acid dye process, the wool fiber in the yarn soaks up all the colour, while the cotton yarn remains its natural shade of cream. This creates an effortless heather effect that adds dimension to darker colours while keeping pastels light and bright. Now you can wear your garments year round without sweating your face off!

4-ply SW British Bluefaced Leicester
BFL fibre is fine, silky, lustrous and strong - an incredibly versatile fibre. This wool is naturally soft, but also good for items that are subject to wear such as socks, mittens, sweaters and hats. They drape well without heaviness due to the natural crimp of the fibre and, with long staple fibres, these yarns are less prone to pilling. This fibre also has a natural lustre that emphasizes the shape of stitches, so it is ideal for textured stitches and cables.
At 25-26 microns, the fibres are less fine than merino, however the BFL fibres have large, smooth scales on their surface so they feel smoother and have a characteristic pearly sheen to them. They also have a higher lanolin content for a more silky feel. BFL yarns are a great introduction to the diverse world of British wool breeds and ideal for those looking to expand beyond merino wool.
